Stacey Dash's Black History Month Oscar cameo falls flat in awkward moment. Stacey Dash has shrugged off the horrified reactions to her bizarre Oscars appearance, during which she wished the Academy Awards audience a 'happy Black History month'. Introducing the outspoken Republican as the new director of the Academy's 'minority outreach program', Chris Rock gave Dash a ten- second cameo to give her greeting. The Fox commentator has been vocal about her disapproval of Black History Month, as well as the #Oscars. So. White movement. However, reacting to her Oscars appearance in a blog post, she appeared to have missed the irony of her role. She began: 'You might be watching the Oscars and wondering why someone named Stacey Dash just walked across the stage. When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say.' She went on to reiterate her views that Black History Month and the BET awards only encourage segregation, and slammed those actors who opted to boycott the Academy Awards. She defended her opinions and her appearance at the Oscars in her blog, writing: 'I would rather be a free thinking black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends.' The 'Clueless' actress was only met with cringes and awkward stares from celebrities as she delivered the half- hearted performance to the crowd. From Chrissy Teigen to The Weeknd, to celebrities who did not attend, no one seemed impressed by the humor in Dash's appearance.
